Commerce
The current year has been the year of decade 2001 to 2010. I am very grateful to all those many members of the department who contributed to the success of the program. The department started with only one – section in the year 2000 and now with much demand for this Program. We have 2 sections in the year 2009. We added one more new executive course B.Com (Computer Application) first time started in our College in the regular stream.
Every Academic year the Department conducts a National Seminars in Association with the Dept. of Commerce, University of Madras. In addition it also conducts State level Workshop and Inter – Collegiate Seminars.
Our Staff members participate and present papers in several Seminars conducted by other Institutions.
The Commerce Department has been upgraded to Post Graduate Program (M.Com) from the Academic Year 2005 – 2006 and Research in M.Phil (Full Time) from the academic year 2008 – 2009.
The Department of Commerce undertaken part time Ph.D course from the Academic year 2004 – 2005.
In addition to the above academic activities department students participated and won in various Cultural, Sports and Media Competitions.
Annual Report 2009 – 10
The M.Phil degree course in Commerce is commenced during the academic year 2008 – 09 with strength of four full time Research students. It is very glad to state that in the academic year 2009 – 10 the strength has increased in double with eight full time Research students.
Academic Achievements:
Three full time M.Phil students, Dhamodaran, Leela and Vijay Anand have successfully completed the M.Phil degree course.
Mr.Nagajothi, Ph.D Research Scholar successfully completed his viva-voce Examination.
Faculty member Dr.S.Tamilarasi and Research students Gowri, Anitha, Vijay and Jayabala were participated in the UGC sponsored one day workshop on “Updates on Corporate Law” organized by Institute of company Secretaries of India and D.B.Jain College on 26th Feb 2010.
Faculty member S.Tamilarasi and Research students attended a workshop on “Application of Statistical tools and techniques for Research” on 17th and 18th Dec 2009, organized by department of Commerce, University of Madras.
Faculty member S.Tamilarasi published an article on Rural Women empowerment through micro entrepreneurs in the book (with ISBN No.) published by department of Commerce, Kumarani Meena Muthaih College for Women, Adyar during the month of March 2010.
