This is very unique course with theoretical as well as practical application. This course is first of its kind in Indian Universities at Undergraduate level. Criminology is study on “etiology, prevention, control, and treatment of crime and delinquency. This includes the measurement and detection of crime, legislation, the practice of criminal law, as well as a review of the law enforcement, judicial, and correctional systems.”

The mission of the department is to lead in the development of criminological and criminal justice research and theory; the training of graduate students to conduct and understand basic and applied research; and the provision of undergraduate education of the highest quality including internships and international experiences. Department also guides on issues like development of research based policies to prevent and control delinquency, crime, and terrorism. The department serves the campus, the local community, and the state as consultants and advisors on issues of critical importance.

These policing programmes provide students with an academic and vocational understanding of policing and also serve as an introduction to a career with the police. The programme will emphasise the diversity of the police role by drawing upon a variety of contexts in which policing is discussed. This will include debates concerning moves to foster a commitment to interagency work, the legal and ethical parameters and duties involved, criminological theories, and the application of rational and scientific methods.
