The Community College is an alternative system of education, which is aimed at the
empowerment of the disadvantaged and the underprivileged (Urban poor, Rural poor,
Tribal poor and Women). IT is an innovative educational alternative that provides
holistic education and eligibility for employment to the disadvantaged It provides
appropriate skills development leading to gainful Employment. It involves collaboration
with the local industry or NGOs.
The Community College promotes
job oriented, work related, skill - based and life
coping education. The University of Madras has taken the initiative in conformity
with the policy of Govt of Tamil Nadu.
Agarsen College is one among the ten colleges in Madras University Area that has
established Community College for the benefit of the disadvantaged people. Agarsen
Community College has been initiated from the academic year 2009-10 for the benefit
of unemployed and school drop outs. The students are assisted in placement as ad
when they complete the course’s

Note: All trainees will also undergo training in Spoken English, Computer basics,
